I have no objection against Premium users getting an advantage, but IMO there's something wrong if joining a server takes longer than playing the game itself. I have a suggestion to improve joining servers: Make one sign with which to join servers. Just one. After that, the system takes over and queues the players, selecting the first 24 for each match. Here's the catch: Non-premium members will have to wait about 20 seconds before getting queued, whereas premium members get queued right away. This will result in an average 20 seconds longer waiting time per match for non-premium members.
Maybe the Premium members shouldn't get queued ? Like The premiums get in an available game the second they click the sign but defaults have to wait for their turn ?
That can be a possibility too. But at least I want to be able to have myself available to join so I'll join eventually. Right now our internet at home is okay, but sometimes it lags a little and I take 20 minutes of sign-spamming to get into anything.
Having one single sign will make the Premium lobby impossible to use. If you aren't aware, in the premium lobby, all users can see each other and interact with each other. If we had a single sign for each gamemode, we'd end up with hundreds of players all crowding around the same sign, never being able to click it. Having multiple signs allows users to choose a server that they can get in to. Obviously, at the moment as Hide and Seek is so hugely popular and we are getting more people on the Hive than ever before, getting in to lobbies is a bit difficult, but when we add more game modes the numbers in Hide and Seek will die down a little. Also, we have added 20 news Hide and Seek servers already, so we're now up to 60 all told, that's almost as many as we have for SG!
Maybe a hybrid solution is in order then: Have the premium lobby as it is now, and the normal one with a single sign which queues the user. Premium members would still kick normal members, but this would make it more usable for the people with more than 200 ping. For those people it can take litetrally over half an hour to join one game.
Great idea! Something i would love would be the possibility to due-que, At the moment when ever i want to play a game with a friend over TS, it takes ages to find a game. Maybe add a command that's /invite "Insertname" And then that person eaither accepts or denies and if he/she accepts you two can see eatchother. And when queing you get placed in the same spot. EXAMPLE If eavry game needs 20 people Let's say there are 19 people in the que, you dont get number 19 + 20 but 20 and 21 so you always get into the same game as your friend. Shitty english i know, but it's late and im tired ^^
the hive hit over 6000 players! today it was ahead of shotbow for the whole day and its the first time that it ever happened! our player numbers almost tripled, so now even TIMV is IMPOSSIBLE to join. This is just plain crazy.
Yeah, I can image people just quitting. Right now, it's okay for me, takes me about three minutes to connect, but that's because I currently have a very low ping. People with a slightly higher ping can nearly impossibly join. Also: People who have voted to dislike the idea (2 people as of now) please post in the thread what you don't like, so people know what to expect when they make further suggestions or what people should count on if this idea is implemented.
The idea itself is pretty good but it isn't practicable since the advantage of being premium is getting ingame immediately. If you have only a 20 seconds advantage it's way less attractive to buy and all current premiums would feel fooled. But if all non premium members get queued that'd help I guess. Even though the waiting time would still be at least 10 minutes it would be more even and fair to people with a poor ping.
It is not awkward it is impossible. you can spam click on the signs that say restarting and you still wont get it. Your idea makes a lot of sense, and the premium players can kick non donators anyways so there is always that possibility.
The point is that its next to impossible for non donors to join. the fact that they can join a match whenever they feel like is enough. They dont have to be concerned with this. Add on whatever other bonuses they have for being premium.
Premium has to be as attractive while not giving an unfair advantage ingame (in the gamemodes). Yea it is unfair for non donators since it's way harder to join a game but the server has to live from the donations. Removing one of the most attractive features will decrease the purchasing of premium by a lot. Ofc you hate it but it is kinda necessary.
As much as I agree with how plain hard it is to get in a Hide n Seek server, or any arcade server for that matter, I'm fine with the current system we have right now. The premiums already have enough of an advantage that at the same time, is fair to the non-premiums. However, having a system where premiums get to get in queue instantly, and that's it while non-premiums just have to wait 20 secs, just does not give enough benefits to premiums.
And also it won't work properly since you would just let non premium users just keep out of the queue for 20 seconds. There is no actual use or any point of those 20 seconds except for being a cheap excuse to all premium member and I believe this was the only point you had in mind when thinking about it. To be precise I'd say you thought of a way to give premiums the illusion of having an advantage so you and other non premium have less trouble with joining a game.
Or maybe you could use a command like /hidenseek join so it will automatically put you in, and if that was implemented it would put people with similar rankings in the game.
