Guess we're all... hyved.
After reading this, I got very excited -- can't wait for the new updates!! Ty devs & staff <3
Very excited for the upcoming changes!
Minecraft 1.8 will age 5 years this year as well, what's planned regarding that?
I personally would really like to see if Hive Java will support the new futures added since then. Even though, there will be revamped combat v2 and 1.15 (we'll see at MINECON) and... BEEs!!
The 2 changes are still snapshots tho, so I understand if you are unsure yet.
(1.12 & 1.13 perform so smooth client-side)
The 1.14 server performance got worse though..
Glad to see that Hive is taking notice of these problems Looking forward to the new updates!
I think that is a discussion for another time. There will always be two sides to the same coin regarding this. We'd love to update to the latest versions for the new features, but are limited by the poor server performance and "bad" combat the community don't want. And by staying on 1.8 it becomes harder and harder to support the latest versions being able to play still (which also provides bad performance).
With that being said everything will be on a 1.8 server base like it currently is.
Myles covered this perfectly. Once the new version of the Hive is out in the wild, we can start to consider offering games that take functionality only present in later Minecraft versions.
Although we'll almost always base our server off of a 1.8 backend, we can add support for things like elytras. Naturally, only people on the new versions will be able to play the games that take advantage of these features; but I think that's the best of both worlds.
take my money
Cant wait to see what the Hive does and maybe we could get a new Mini game...
There won't be new games when this launches, as we said we'll be making it a clone of what we currently have. That being said one of the benefits of this rewrite is its much easier and faster for games to be made!
I can say 2 words
My main concern is Armadillo being brought back. If it was removed for a camping spot, get rid of the spot. It was a beautiful map and nearly the entire TIMV community loved it. We want our 'dillo pls.
It was removed due to performance issues, and we're planning on bringing it back with the new Java version.
Does this also include the removed OITC maps?
Will we still be able to play 1.8?
Great, I suggest there should be a thread made sooner to this new hive release suggesting what SG 2.0 features should be added to the current SG Classic (just so players who are looking to make a comeback have a say). For example, I think the spectator feature for SG 2.0 is a lot better than Classic, especially since you can't join deathmatch in Classic. Other things like the SG maps, crate designs, levelling/enchanting, point system etc should be left as it is in Classic.
YAY - Hopefully it will be better for us NZ/AUS Bees
I came back at the perfect time. Can't wait to see the community grow! so excited for Hive 2.0
care to tell us what a community manager is now thanks
