Hey guys I never make threads but I'm just curious how you guys rank your maps yaknow I saw someone do this for timv like over a year ago and everyone was putting their own like answers so O: https://tiermaker.com/create/hivemc-hns-maps-292647 Heres mine
I disagree with like 90% of these. So nice job! This is my own list. Keep in mind I pretty much exclusively seek.
i went on the forums for the first time in like months and found this and u know i love ranking maps so here we go top tier is my faves to seek (last one is tala, u cant really see oops) but now that im hiding more, ive been loving the 3rd tier (cali n keep <3) also i do play bora occasionally if im seeking with friends, but i didnt have room for a tier just for that
So I made my ranking based on how balanced and fun to play I consider the maps. My understanding of balanced: The map has some very good hiding spots which are either hard to reach or well out of sight (meaning a seeker has to directly look at your hiding spot to see you e.g. that one spot on Keep) but it is also possible for one very good or several good seekers to clear the map. They should take longer than 3 minutes though. Looking at my ranking I remember why I quit HnS... There are just 5 maps that don't favor Seekers and one of the extremely favors hiders...
just wondering, what makes you say sunset, nexus, sequoia, and hotel cali are unbalanced? do you mean towards seekers or hiders haha
I took a tour around the maps and looked for good hiding spots but barely found any. Of course this could be because I didn't find the good spots yet. As I stated above I consider a map unbalanced if Seekers or Hiders have a clear advantage above the other, in most cases it's the Seekers having an advantage though.
There are two people I can think of who seek sunset and one is me are u sure its a seeker oriented map
It seems like most people here thinks good map = easy to seek which i can agree and disagree at the same time
Here is mine, for the ranks use google translate my computer took habits to translate everything i say
Well, if you only seek then the good maps ARE the easy-to-seek ones normally since the hider maps are a pain to seek on.
Well I may be wrong but I didn't see a lot of good hiding spots there. But maybe it's a pain to seek on because hiders can run away easily. With the huge focus on seeking HnS bow has, sadly yes. Although TiMV also changed. There is way less communication between the players now. I kinda miss the "role playing" aspect of the game. The problem is, that there are way more maps that are easy to seek on than good hiding maps in the game rn. It also doesn't help that very experienced players know the maps like their own bedrooms. Hive really needs to find a way to balance this out, either by a rotating map pool (more maps needed imo) or by finding a way to randomize maps so they vary each game but stay roughly the same.
I don't have any preference, but my best map thus far is Town Square or Space. (seeker kill wise) I stay for hotel (to hide) but most times I get killed early on, depending on the players I stay or not.
