    Hello Hive Team!
Me and BomCrafter built a Gravity map called "Canyon"!
As you can see at the name we built a Canyon, in which there is kind of a cave.
I was a lot of work allthough it may not seem like that. Please leave a rating if you like the map!

I hope you like the map! Also we have to say we aren't professional builders or something. Please keep that in mind!

Instead of just full stone, why not variations of hardened clay, and some stone? The stone is just throwing me off because of the name to be honest.

That's not the first with no variation on the walls

true, just trying to help because in it's current state this map won't get accepted, I'm afraid. Here are some things I'd change:
    1) make the walls not only stone (f.e. hardened clay or other types of stone)
    2) don't make the walls flat, a real cave also doesn't have completely polished walls, they need to be a bit more realistic.
    3) maybe add more obstacles while falling, but that also depends on the difficulty of course. (what's the difficulty?)

basically just make it more interesting to look at while playing.

Love the actual drop with the webs and few obstacles but I think the map is a bit bland and needs some exciting changes in general

    Hey,
I love the concept but here's some criticism to make you guys better builders. Take it if you want.

The map is straight off two bland.
Try building in creative mode and building up in circular fashion with a mix of stone and different blocks. This will add more variation to the map rather than dirt and immediate stone

    The cobwebs are too thin.
Try making streams of cobwebs about 3 layer's deep, this will make it more lifelike. Try building a organic spider as-well to give the map more of a punch or wow factor.

The bridge is out of place.
I like the idea of the bridge, but instead of just having one area bulging out , it could be cool if you make other sections bulging out to make it more life-like. Also you could make either side of the bridge into a cave system of sorts. Not necessarily an area you can jump into but rather just to show off that it "could" lead deeper into a cavern.

The exit should be clear and well illuminated.
I understand the whole idea of hiding it would be cool but for players who enjoy speed running in gravity, I feel like it could throw a lot of people off and waste a lot of time for the people who do land in the water and then they spend another huge amount of time trying to find the nether portal only to give up making the map more annoying rather than fun.

I would make the background stone have some variation, just so it is easier to look at. Other than that, the map looks really fun!! I hope to play it soon!

I really don't want to sound rude but this map needs lots of changing (but everyone has to start from somewhere right?)

Variety of blocks (as mentioned from others):
You need to step up your creativity (making a map for such a big server is not easy at all)
Use blocks such as cobblestone, other stones (andersite, plished diorite, etc), more ores, hardened clay
    Depth/Terrain:
The map doesn't have to be a square, you can make any shape you want
It is obvious that you 've just generated a world and dig a hole using commands, but a nicer looking map can be achieved with a major help of 3rd party programs such as world painter, mcedit and world edit (a plugin), or any other app you want, it will really change the environment to the better, if done correctly
    Other:
Put on some light in some areas (optional)
Make the map harder; with the amount of obstacles in the map compared to the water the player can land on, makes the map really easy, that can be completed first try, even with the most inexperienced players

    Hey!

Let me get straight to the point, this map looks far from complete, even if it is complete. There are several points of improvements that the both of you can make to this map, let me first go over the 'errors' and the solutions to those:

    In my opinion, you should:
    - Create a colour palette at the start of the build and use that for your map.
    - Give your map an interesting shape, sticking to a square won't cut it if you don't detail the walls enough.
    - Try to think of creative ideas to fill the map with new and better obstacles.
    - Do more and better terraforming.
    - Add more colours to your build (adding on colour palette).

    Colour palette:
Before you start a build, you need to chose a colour palette. You can also do this while your building, but for group projects, it's always the best to create one beforehand so you build with the same blocks. You can create a colour palette by looking up images of canyons and letting yourself be inspired by those colours. Right now I get 0 canyon vibes from this build, it simply does not look like a canyon. You can fix this with a colour palette though. I would sort out what canyon rock colours you will use first. After that I would create another rock colour palette which contrasts your first rock palette so you can use this to create interesting patterns in your walls. Also make a colour palette for the structures you will be using, I would advice to simply forget the oak wood and oak planks and use blocks in similar colour that are less used (Maybe combine some stone-variant with wool and a nice contrasting wood colour?)

    Interesting shape:
This is an essential suggestion for your map. Right now your walls are square, this doesn't look very good because it's repetitive and predicable. I'm not sure if you have used worldedit, if you have used it and can use it, go over the walls with a brush and give them an interesting canyon-like shape making the total falling area thinner and thicker the further you progress in the map. You could also add natural bridges here and there, like in this image: https://goo.gl/1guC1i . Pretty much I'd advice you to look up canyons on the internet and think of interesting things to add onto your shape, if you're going for a natural looking map, never stick to obvious shapes like squares and circles.

    New and better obstacles:
Your map is lacking a good variety of obstacles, The bridge is a good idea, but not executed very well, it looks like it appears out of nothing, so try to implement it more into your (possibly) improved shape. The natural canyon bridges I linked above are a good idea, but you mostly have to have a little brainstorm session where you think about good ways to create new obstacles. I'd advice you not to use more than 1 layer of cobweb, because falling into cobweb after cobweb layer is just annoying and time-consuming. Right now, the web obstacles don't make any sense, what are they? If you're going for a web-idea try to impletement it into your map more, also don't make it flat but slightly angled, it will be more interesting to fall through.

    More and better terraforming:
This pretty much adds on the interesting shape, try to add more interesting terraforming, add interesting shapes and such. (Like I noted above). You should probably make the bottom of your map look like the actual bottom of a canyon, with interesting colours, a little housing maybe and a clear pathway and lighting to the end-portal since this is the main objective of the map. If you are not familiar with Worldedit or Voxelsniper, you can terraform everything by hand, be aware, this will take long, but always remember that quality > quantity. I'd rather have you add a more interesting shape to the map in 3 weeks time than I'd have you finish 3 maps in 1 week.

    More colour:
This is an obvious one, your build is lacking colour right now. Really try to use creative and original colours that fit with the theme but don't look too vanilla.

All with all, don't be discouraged by all the criticism I just threw at you, I hope I gave the two of you enough solutions for your errors so that you can improve and come back with an improved and better-looking map! :D

If you need help with anything I mentioned (or new), don't hesitate sending me a PM!

    Yours sincerely,
    JustDJplease ^~^

oh ya one time on some map the nether portal was hidden in a corner, I dropped down with tons of time left to spare (it was the last map) but ended up running out of time cause i couldn't find the nether portal xD

I agree with everything else you said too.
