    Hey Bees,

You'll hopefully all have noticed that over the last couple of weeks there has been a LOT less automated spam appearing on the forums. We've been making some changes to the way we check for spam content and it appears to be working pretty well at the moment.

However, one of the changes we have made will affect all new users to the forums so we wanted to make you aware of that now. One of the new anti-spam measures that has been implemented is a more aggressive URL check. What this means is that any message that contains "http" or "https" posted by a forum account with less than 5 posts overall WILL be flagged for manual moderation by myself. This includes simply posting a link, embedding a link or even embedding an image in a post. Basically if the phrase "http" or "https" appear anywhere in the post, it will be flagged. Please note that PMs and Signatures cannot be moderated by myself, as a result if they are flagged as spam they will simply automatically be rejected and you will receive an error message.

Not only does this affect new posts, but it also affects existing posts as well. If you have posted less than 5 posts on our forum, and then try to add a URL into one of the existing posts you've made, that will be flagged as well. In the case of editing a post you will usually receive an error message that rejects the edit.

If you post a message with a URL and then cannot see it, please do not attempt to post it multiple times. Simply wait until it is reviewed and accepted.

We understand this may be a little frustrating for some users, however we feel that this is outweighed by the benefits it has provided so far.

    Thanks,
    RWJP

I‘ve definitely noticed the heavy decrease in spam. I used to report it like twice a day at least back a few months ago. It hasn‘t been a problem since. Well done, it seems to be quite effective!
