    All the suggestions in this post have been discussed by many GNT players in order to end up with a community approved thread.
    Since there are many ideas in this post, we have highlighted the most important ones with red color. All of the ideas in the post have been agreed on by everyone, the highlighted ones are just the most urgent ones.


    Defense Enhancers(note: the prices are adjustable)

    Faster recall (cost: 3,000 gold at the merchant)
    Reduces recall channeling time from 5 to 2.5 seconds.​

    Autowall (cost: 2,500 gold per side at the merchant)
    The merchant gets a new category of items called 'Walls'. The player will find 3 blocks in that category, each one representing one side of the giant (minus the back of the giant). The player picks a side and a wall is automatically built at the chosen side of the giant.​

    Wall Builder (Alternative) (cost: 500 gold per piece at the merchant)
    Inspired by the Bridge Builders in Skywars, it works in the same way but builds upwards instead (10 blocks). Can only be placed around the giant.

    If these ideas about walls seem too powerful, a limit can be implemented into the amount of Autowalls or Wall Builders a team can purchase.


    Game length should be 20 minutes instead of 30 when there are less than 16 players
    This will make the games a bit faster and motivate people to defend their giant since the team with the most giant hp wins if the timer runs out. Basically adds the "defender" role as a legit strategy to the game. The number (16) is debatable.​

    Last Stand
    When the giant’s health drops below 40%, the giant becomes enraged, dealing more damage to enemy players and jumping more often.
    Healing Pool
    Healing pool around the merchant. Only active at the merchant area (3x3), it gives regen 1 only to the players of the specific team. This "healing pool" would let the members of the team heal up just a little bit more quickly after coming back to their base, because the island where your giant is should feel more like a base. Keep in mind that regen 1 is not a very strong buff and all it would do is help you heal a little bit faster.​
    Team Related

    Location Information for teammates
    Being able to see what your teammates are up to (e.g. attacking a specific team, killing the beast or defending the giant) would be very useful for everyone. We would suggest the teammates' location being shown at the same time as their name, health and armor pop up in your screen from the new rotating system.​

    When a player leaves the game, their gold gets equally distributed across the remaining players of the team
    Many people tend to leave the game for various reasons and not much can be done about it, but the remaining team members could at least use that person's gold to their advantage.​

    A message selector so that players can quickly communicate information pertinent to the game
    For example, "Our giant is under attack from arrows!" These predetermined messages would be accessible to muted players, and they would have a cooldown for all players. The message selector would be accessed from a central command that then listed the options in the chat, mimicking /vote in lobbies.​

    General Improvement Ideas

    The ability to see your own gold at all times
    This new rotating system allows you to check in on your teammates and there is nothing wrong with that except for the fact that, at most times, especially in teams of 6, you cannot see your own gold which can be annoying. We believe that adding a /gold command that shows your gold or simply displaying your gold at all times at the right side of the screen would solve the problem.

    A shortened version of /givegold (/gg or /gv)
    Typing /givegold <player> <amount> is a bit long and other commands already have shortened versions. Like /recall has /re or /rc and /requestgold has /rg.
    *If this already exists then we apologize, we were not aware of it. Please let us know if it does.

    Reserving slots in a team for party members
    It’s understandable when parties of 5 or 6 people get split into different teams because the teams sometimes can only fit 3 or 4 players. The problem is that parties of 3 or 4 people sometimes get split even though they could all fit into one team, having random solo players as teammates. Also, when 2 or more party members get split from the main team, they don't end up in the same enemy team. A solution to this would be to implement the BedWars system, where you don't choose your team, but your teammates.

    Unkillable/Immovable merchants
    There is no reason why the merchants should be killable and the only people who ever kill the merchants are the ones who want to troll their teammates. Currently, it is possible to drop sand/gravel on the merchant, suffocating him. It is also possible to move the merchant beyond the protected land using tnt or water, which makes him even more vulnerable. No merchant means no use for the gold you have collected which is a crucial part of the game. Using other teams’ merchants is inefficient, dangerous and time-consuming.​

    Better chest loot and ore drops
    As a start, remove all leather, chain, and golden armor, as they are all inferior to the armor with which you spawn, as well as coal and torches. The gold ore currently drops random weapons and armor which aren't that useful, and should be changed to drop 1-2 gold ingots, apples, golden carrots and occasionally a golden apple (More useful items, plus it fits thematically). The chest loot should include more lava buckets, expensive potions, wooden blocks and flint and steel.​

    The ability to turn auto-armor off (like SkyWars)
    There are players that dislike the auto-armor, and would like an option to disable it.​

    Removal of Knockback 2 enchantment from the game
    Everyone can agree that this specific enchantment can be extremely overpowered and way too easy to obtain. It is way too hard to deal with it, and has no place in SkyGiants.​

    Crafting bench by the merchant on every map
    There are players who craft their items, and it would be convenient to have a crafting bench easily accessible.​

    The old GNT hub should replace the current waiting lobby (like SW did)
    Now that the game doesn't attract as many people anymore, the waiting lobby is usually a place where people wait... a lot. Since it doesn't have an official parkour, and generally isn't very interesting, people tend to get bored more easily and leave. The old GNT hub fixes those problems, plus we can all agree that it holds memories of the "good ol' times".​
    Anticheat

    Modify some of the beasts’ attacks so that they result in a more tame change in velocity, and don’t interfere with the anticheat (note that any replacement suggestions can be changed)
    The problematic attacks are:
    1. Talos’ primary attack. Since it’s the normal golem attack, the mob should be changed to a skeleton called Odokuro. The primary attack should be a Power 2 bow (deals 1 ½ hearts of damage to a diamond player), and the secondary could remain the TnT, or it could be changed to arrow rain.
    2. Hydros’ (Guardian) secondary attack. It’s the one that launches you really high, and should be replaced with Instant Damage 2 potions.
    The Bowspam Problem

    [Explanation as to why bowspam is a problem, written by Div]
    First of all, I would like to clarify that I am well aware there have been posts about bowspam in the SkyGiants section of the forums. The threads made by @AmanoYukki and @ThePrimoZ are, partly, the reason why I am including Bowspam in this thread, although I will be referring to bowspam on Giants and not players. I know that previous posts about bowspam have been discarded but the purpose of this is to show people how easy it is to kill a giant using a bow and why it is actually a problem.

    Firstly, with the help of @Qazort , @Lumieree, @Eldrom and @Geronimo2798, we recreated a bowspam scenario, showing just how easy it is to kill a giant, from almost 100% hp, using exclusively bows. The following videos were made with this sole purpose.




    As you can see, it takes less than a minute to kill a giant at 93% hp using a bow (on Double Damage). The amount of time it takes me to recall, spot the bowspammer and try to get on top of the giant and build a roof is enough for them to deal damage equal to 60% of the giant's hp. It is extremely hard to build a roof since the person with the bow can knock you off (there are 2 of us trying to build a roof and the bowspammers knocked us both down), and it's also extremely inefficient because building a roof will prevent the giant from jumping, which is the only means of defense they possess. Plenty of maps have easily accessible high places like trees and towers and for the ones that don't, the players can simply build a skybase above the giant and do the same thing.

    "Solutions" previously given to the problem:
    1. Build a wall around the giant
    -As you can see in the video a wall had already been built and it didn't help... at all.
    2. Attack the other team's giant
    -This solution would be acceptable if SkyGiants was a game about 2 teams fighting each other. Since there are 4 teams, this is not a valid option because you are only attacking one team's giant (assuming you can even get to their base before your giant is dead to bowspam), leaving your own base unprotected and vulnerable.

    I am not suggesting that bowspam should be removed from the game since I understand that it can be a good strategy on several occasions and especially against hackers. The only existing problem is bowspam from above the giant.

    Suggested Solutions:

    Arrows do not deal damage to Giants if you are at or above a specific height (suggested: 20 blocks)
    This would prevent people from climbing on trees and towers, they would still be able to use bows from the sides, so that a wall around the Giant would actually offer protection. We believe that the height limit should be 20 blocks up from the position of the giant, because most times it's not on the same level as the rest of the base (Orc, Moonlight).​

    Giants take reduced damage from arrows throughout the whole game (suggested: Halved)
    This would at least give you a chance to attack the team that is bowspamming your giant, and you would have more than 1 minute before your giant died from arrow damage. According to our experiments, the arrows currently do 6-10 normal damage and 12-20 in Double Damage, while an unenchanted diamond sword does 8 and 16. As you can see, there is a chance that an arrow will deal more damage than a sword. That is ridiculous. By halving them, the arrows would do the current normal damage in double damage, which seems more fair.​
    New vs Experienced Players
    It is normal that experienced players know what they're doing and usually win against new players, but right now there is an unnecessarily big gap between them.

    Increased passive gold generation depending on giant's %hp
    This way, a team can make a ‘comeback” when their giant is low.
    Giant Health Gold Regeneration
    100% - 51% 2 g/s (current)
    50% - 26% 3 g/s
    25% - 11% 5 g/s
    10% - 1% 10 g/s
    10 g/s is quite a lot, but the giant's hp would be 10%, just a few hits before it's dead, and if people would heal it, it would go back to 5 g/s. Another suggestion would be to formulate some equation that relates gold production to remaining health, which would create the categories for us.​

    A Visual Tutorial
    With the method used at the start of each DeathRun game, new players could be shown all that they need to know about the game. Each player is forced to see the (10) second tutorial once on their first game. The game teleports to the tutorial every player that hasn't seen it 10 seconds before the game starts, while the remaining players continue to wait the 10s in the lobby. The option to start the tutorial is also be available from the lobby, for the people who are rusty and want to rewatch it. This ensures that all players get to watch the tutorial at least once.​
    Farming

    The BedWars spawn protection system
    10 seconds of invincibility upon respawning that goes away if the player engages in combat or leaves their base. Farming is a big problem in GNT, and it tends to drive new people away from the game by creating an unpleasant experience for them. Respawn invincibility would help prevent that since players would have enough time to run away or buy items from the merchant.​
    Merchant items (the prices are adjustable)

    • Water Bucket (cost: 100 gold) The depthstrider enchantment should show up at the 3rd enchant, to counter people flooding their bases. Another way to counter this would be sponges.
    • Cheaper golden apples (new cost: 600 gold, current cost: 1000 gold)
    • Cheaper Lapis and XP Bottles (new cost: 250 gold for 1 lapis and 250 gold for 1 xp level, current cost: way too much gold) Currently, the XP bottles are not only overpriced but also problematic since they work like normal XP bottles instead of giving one full level every time as they should
    • Health 2 potions (cost: 550 gold)
    Ranks

    New Ranks
    We believe that new ranks should be added to the game, as motivation for players. @AmanoYukki's post, which can be found here, has some excellent suggestions.​

    Rewards for achieving new ranks [credit: @DanIsUGLY ]
    Cosmetic rank rewards would motivate players to keep playing, as well as a way for them to show their dedication. We understand that this would require a change server-wise, but we'd be happy to see SkyGiants be the first game to implement this change. Here are some suggestions by @Qazort:
    - Random firework kill effect (summon a firework entity with a flight duration of 0 at the location of the killed player; the randomization code is already present in TIMV)
    - Lightning strike giant kill effect (summon a lightning entity when and where a giant is killed)
    - Rainbow stained glass (select a glass color that is not currently available in the shop, such as white or black, then have the server use that unique block identification number to locate the position of the block when placed; cycle through other glass colors in that position until the block is destroyed)
    - Giant rider win effect (summon a giant at the player's position, then mount the player on it)​
    A New Gamemode

    GNTX
    A private gamemode (like survival games) with just two teams. The game would start with a minimum of 6 players and the teams would spawn on opposite sides. The map wouldn't change, it'd be as if the side teams had already been eliminated. It'd be pretty competitive, plus it'd require fewer people (easier to start). Both Mini and Reg maps should be available, and the players would choose depending on the team size. This mode could also be customizable, allowing players to choose game length, removing certain items from the game, faster beast spawns, force start etc.​

    Summary of the most important ideas:
    -Reserving slots in a team for party members
    -Unkillable/Immovable merchants
    -Removal of KB2
    -Beasts' Attacks Modification so they won't interfere with the Anticheat
    -Arrows do not deal damage to Giants if you are at or above a specific height
    -Giants take reduced damage from arrows throughout the whole game
    -The BedWars spawn protection system

    A discord server was actually created, including at least 31 members, to discuss all of these ideas to better the game we've all come to enjoy. The server was also created in the very beginning of September, so that's how long we've all been discussing what we believe should be implemented and what shouldn't be. :D:D
