    • 1. Go to versions folder
      • Windows: %APPDATA%\.minecraft\versions
      • Linux: /home/yourname/.minecraft/versions
      • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Minecraft/versions
    • 2. Find a folder with version you want to install Better Sprinting to (I’ll use 1.6.1 as an example in the tutorial)
    • 3. Copy the folder and rename it to 1.6.1_sprint
    • 4. Go inside the folder, and rename 1.6.1.jar and 1.6.1.json to 1.6.1_sprint.jar and1.6.1_sprint.json
    • 5. Open 1.6.1_sprint.jar in an archiving software (I suggest WinRAR)
    • 6. Download the mod and copy all files into the .jar file
    • 7. Delete folder META-INF from the .jar file
    • 8. Open 1.6.1_sprint.json in any text editor
    • 9. Find “id”: “1.6.1″, and change it to “id”: “1.6.1_sprint”
    • 10. Run the new launcher, press Edit profile, select release 1.6.1_sprint version and Save profile. Then you’re ready to go!

I've added images for the newer stuff that's related to 1.6.1, if you knew how to install mods before 1.6.1 then you know how to install them now.
Inbox me with any questions you have.

I have now posted a download link to my entire 1.6.1_sprint folder, if you past this in your versions folder and then select that version in your launcher, you should be good to go

Thanks, will this fix the sprinting bug in 1.6?

Does the laggy sprint bug still happen when using BSM in 1.6.1?

No, the sprinting "bug" was intentional by mojang, they made sprinting server sided, though realising their error they are turning it back to normal n 1.6.2

I've also made a video on how to update magic launcher if you think this is too challenging.

You know this is almost the same - if not the same - as the Better Sprint Mod thread on =P

In addition, if you decide to install multiple mods at once, simply name the jar file and json file to something like "1.6.1_modded".

The only reason "_sprint" is used in the above example is to show that that jar file has the sprint mod installed.

People were having trouble using google to find that, so i put it here and added to it.

Sorrily, the renaming bits seem considerably pointless because the jar file you download already has the META-INF folder deleted and the line of text in the .json file already edited, in which case you could just move the files in and delete the others. Everything worked out in the end.
